INNIS FISHERY SPRING CUP 2012

SPONSORED BY SNOWBEE UK

The commitment of sponsors to the sport of fly fishing cannot be over emphasized. Snowbee UK have shown their support for local, national & international competitions for many years and the anglers here today showed how much they appreciate the support given to this competition by Snowbee UK.

The prizes donated by Snowbee UK were outstanding with prizes going down to 14th position. As in previous years prizes were also given to anglers who did not finish in the top positions and another given to an angler for very special reasons. This year’s prize went to Alex Johnstone who had to fish all day next to a very challenging entrant, enough said.

34 anglers arrived to fish this annual competition, they had no idea the quality of the fishing that awaited them. Fish were being caught from the first minute and unusually the fishing improved during the afternoon. A record number of fish were caught and the winner had more than twice the average number of fish caught by other anglers. Winner Andrew Gooding had just returned from Tasmania where he was a part of the team that won the silver medal in the Commonwealth Championships.

Today Andrew caught consistently throughout the day, on the next peg was Snowbee UK’s Sales & Marketing Manger, Simon Kidd, who was also catching well and the two were going fish for fish most of the day. Simon eventually finished 2nd with a fantastic catch of 21 fish, this was not enough to beat Andrew who caught a record 26 fish.

This is a totally catch and release competition and all the fish were safely returned to the water after being witnessed by some very hard working and overstretched controllers.

If you have never fished Innis I would recommend that you you pay this beautiful fishery a visit. It was used as the venue for the very first ‘Bank International’ last year and the opinion of the the competitors was unanimous,  This is a quality fishery with top class fish and set in fantastic Cornish countryside.
